Work­shops for bud­ding mu­sic stars

AS­PIR­ING mu­si­cians in Peter­bor­ough are be­ing in­vited to hone their skills at free mu­sic work­shops.

Beat This CIC and the hous­ing as­so­ci­a­tion Cross Keys Homes have joined forces to cre­ate Vo­cal­ize - a se­ries of seven free ses­sions for bud­ding beat­box­ers, MCS and song­writ­ers.

The first work­shop takes place on Wed­nes­day, Jan­uary 11 in The Old Still in Queens­gate Shop­ping Cen­tre and will run ev­ery Wed­nes­day un­til Fe­bru­ary halfterm hol­i­day.

The ses­sions will al­low par­tici- pants to record their work and will cul­mi­nate in a grand fi­nale per­for­mance.

Beat This CIC di­rec­tor Lee Ash­ton said: “We’re look­ing at get­ting peo­ple in­volved in mu­sic, mu­sic tech­nol­ogy, beat­box­ing and get­ting them­selves heard.

“If you’ve ever wanted to write your own song, work on your beat­box­ing skills or just show peo­ple what your ca­pa­ble of then you should come and sign up.

“We’ll have artists and pro­fes­sion­als on hand to show you how it’s done and if you’ve al­ready got the skills, give you a few point­ers in the right di­rec­tion.”

The work­shops are avail­able for peo­ple aged from 12 to 18.

All par­tic­i­pants will get the chance to use pro­fes­sional mu­sic equip­ment.
