Tunnicliffe could be returning to Old Trafford next week

ON-LOAN Posh midfielder Ryan Tunnicliffe could return to Manchester United following the home Championship fixture with Birmingham on Monday.

Tunnicliffe’s initial loan spell expires after that match and, while Posh are keen to extend the deal to the end of the season, agreement with the player has not yet been reached.

Tunniciffe, who celebrates his 19th birthday today, missed the Boxing Day win at Nottingham Forest because of a dead leg and is doubtful for the trip to Middlesbrough tomorrow because of illness. He’s started just seven matches so far this season.

Midfielder Lee Frecklington will be out of action for a month. He is booked in for a hernia operation ontuesday.

Skipper Grant Mccann has received a sugar injection in an attempt to accelerate his return from a knee ligament injury, but Posh boss Darren Ferguson still expects to be without his midfielder for four more weeks.

Right-back Mark Little will resume training with the first-team squad on Monday and could be available for the FA Cup tie with Sunderland at London Road on January 8.
