School’s trophy cabinet full of silverware
ONE primary school dominated a recent swimming gala in the Deepings, taking the majority of the silverware up for grabs.
Deeping St James Community Primary School has a bulging trophy cabinet after success in a recent tournament.
The youngsters were competing in the Bourne and Deepings Swimming Gala on Thursday, April 19.
The event was held at the Deepings Leisure Centre, in Park Road, Deeping St James.
The youngsters put in an outstanding effort and took home three of the four trophies available from the competitions.
Headteacher Ian Wilkinson said: “The children swam brilliantly and won three out the four trophies against six other schools.
“Elijah Dawson did particularly well and won his individual race in the 25-metre freestyle.
“We are very proud of all their achievements.”
The school claimed the Year 3 and 4 girls’ trophy along with the Year 3 and 4 boys’ cup.
The Year 5 and Year 6 boys’ trophy was also claimed by the Deeping St James Community Primary School pupils.
The Year 5 and 6 girls were unlucky to be the only group without a cup but came a very highly placed third.
