Share fashion memories from the 1940s to the 1980s
FASHION-LOVERS with an interest in history are invited to share their memories of the clothes that were worn between the 1940s and 1980s at a series of events in Peterborough.
City College Peterborough, in Brook Street, is holding the “reminiscence sessions” over the coming months at Werrington Library, in Staniland Way.
The events are part of the college’s History’s Mirror project.
A spokesman for the project said: “Come along and share your memories at one of our reminiscence sessions where you will be able to look at a range of clothing from this period on a particular theme.”
The next session takes place at Werrington Library on Tuesday, May 15 and will be dedicated to the theme of needlecraft.
The session taking place at the library on Tuesday, June 12, will have the theme of weddings while on Tuesday, July 3, the theme will be going out daywear.
All sessions run from 10.30am to noon. Admission is free.
Members of the History’s Mirror project will also attend a coffee morning at Werrington Library this weekend.
The Friends of Werrington Library event takes place on Saturday, May 5, from 10am to noon.
It will be a chance to see mannequins in authentic period dress, handle artefacts and share memories.
