Share fash­ion mem­o­ries from the 1940s to the 1980s

FASH­ION-LOVERS with an in­ter­est in his­tory are in­vited to share their mem­o­ries of the clothes that were worn be­tween the 1940s and 1980s at a se­ries of events in Peter­bor­ough.

City Col­lege Peter­bor­ough, in Brook Street, is hold­ing the “rem­i­nis­cence ses­sions” over the com­ing months at Wer­ring­ton Li­brary, in Stani­land Way.

The events are part of the col­lege’s His­tory’s Mir­ror project.

A spokesman for the project said: “Come along and share your mem­o­ries at one of our rem­i­nis­cence ses­sions where you will be able to look at a range of cloth­ing from this pe­riod on a par­tic­u­lar theme.”

The next ses­sion takes place at Wer­ring­ton Li­brary on Tues­day, May 15 and will be ded­i­cated to the theme of needle­craft.

The ses­sion tak­ing place at the li­brary on Tues­day, June 12, will have the theme of wed­dings while on Tues­day, July 3, the theme will be go­ing out day­wear.

All ses­sions run from 10.30am to noon. Ad­mis­sion is free.

Mem­bers of the His­tory’s Mir­ror project will also at­tend a cof­fee morn­ing at Wer­ring­ton Li­brary this week­end.

The Friends of Wer­ring­ton Li­brary event takes place on Satur­day, May 5, from 10am to noon.

It will be a chance to see man­nequins in au­then­tic pe­riod dress, han­dle arte­facts and share mem­o­ries.
