Charity flash mob
A FLASH mob in a Peterborough shopping centre by high school students has raised £170 for charity.
Pupils from Stanground Academy carried out the flash mob at Queensgate Shopping Centre on Sunday, with some 135 dancers joining in.
The routine was choreographed to a mixture of old and new music and saw participants rehearse for four months in preparation under the tutelage of teacher Beckie Barnes.
The event has so far raised £170 for spina bifida charity Shine, with donations still being taken at www.shinecharity. org.uk/donate.
Ms Barnes said: “The performance was of course to raise money for charity but I also really wanted to show the youth of Peterborough in a positive light to the public as these teens really did brighten up a rainy day with their passion for dance and ultimately, they made people smile!
“The flash mob started with just 12 of us and grew to 135.
“The students made me very proud and I was overwhelmed with the parent/public support that we received on the day.”
