New charity event in Hampton
HAMPTON residents will be able to raise money for charity at a new fundraising event starting in the township.
The first Hampton Treats For All event will take place this weekend raising money for The Rosie Campaign.
The Rosie Campaign is raising money for research and treatment of Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE).
HIE develops when there is an interruption of blood supply and critically oxygen, to the brain during labour.
This occurs in between one or two of every 1,000 births and has a high risk of death or serious neuro-disability.
Survivors may go on to develop cerebral palsy, have long-term visual or hearing problems, develop learning difficulties and many have prolonged seizures which can be difficult to treat.
At the Hampton event, there will be a variety of stalls from local shops and businesses, a Minnie Mouse mascot, bouncy castle, face painter, Faye and the Desert Dancers and a charity raffle.
It will take place on Saturday, May 5 at the Hampton Vale Community Centre, in Stewartby Avenue, Hampton Vale between 1.15pm and 5pm.
It is hoped that the event will become a regular fixture at the community centre, possibly being held once every three months.
All residents are invited to come along to support the charity.
