PETER Down­hill pro­duced a stun­ning re­lay leg as Hunts Ath­letic Club’s men recorded their first ever vic­tory in the East­ern Vet­er­ans League.

They won by 32.5 points in the league opener at King’s Lynn with Peter­bor­ough Vet­er­ans miss­ing sec­ond place by a sin­gle point.

Down­hill recorded a win and two sec­ond places but it was his 800m leg in the med­ley re­lay where he re­ally shone. Com­ing just 15 min­utes af­ter his win in the 400m, Down­hill ran the an­chor leg and set off in last place and 70m be­hind the lead­ers but snatched vic­tory in the clos­ing stages.
