PETER Downhill produced a stunning relay leg as Hunts Athletic Club’s men recorded their first ever victory in the Eastern Veterans League.
They won by 32.5 points in the league opener at King’s Lynn with Peterborough Veterans missing second place by a single point.
Downhill recorded a win and two second places but it was his 800m leg in the medley relay where he really shone. Coming just 15 minutes after his win in the 400m, Downhill ran the anchor leg and set off in last place and 70m behind the leaders but snatched victory in the closing stages.
