rain damp­ened the turnout in some wards at yes­ter­day’s coun­cil elec­tions.

Tra­di­tion­ally the turnout for lo­cal elec­tions is of­ten low com­pared with gen­eral elec­tions and that is al­ways dis­ap­point­ing.

The harsh fact is that those that don’t vote can’t re­ally com­plain if they end up dis­agree­ing with the ac­tions of elected coun­cil­lors.
