New care company is hailed ‘trailblazer’
THE leader of the country’s care watchdog has praised a new city care company for its service approach, calling it a trailblazer.
Dame Philippa Russell, chairwoman of the Parliamentary Standing Commission on Carers, was the keynote speaker at the recent launch of Axiom Crossroads Care at the Kingsgate Centre in Peterborough.
The not-for-profit organisation has been set up by Axiom Housing association and Crossroads Care Cambridgeshire, a network partner of Carers Trust.
Axiom Crossroads Care, which aims to employ up to 100 people, will provide a one stop shop for providers and residents to access a range of services, from help with shopping personal care.
Dame Russell said: “It can’t be right for vulnerable people to have to deal with multiple agencies to get the right care. An holistic approach like Axiom Crossroads Care is offering makes it easier for residents of a sheltered scheme and provides a community hub for local people to access high-quality care.
“We need more trailblazers like the one we are launching today.”
Alan Lewin, chief executive of Axiom, added: “We have been very fortunate to find Crossroads Care Cambridgeshire to partner as it shares Axiom’s ethos and excellence in service delivery.”
