Wet weather cancels Spalding Flower Parade finale

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk&world Update -

THE recent wet weather has meant changes to the finale planned for today’s Spalding Flower Parade.

The parade was intended to finish at the Sir Halley Stewart Field in Winfrey Avenue for a free finale.

However, as the field is waterlogged the parade will now end at the junction of Pinchbeck Road and King’s Road, where the participants will disembark and the floats are taken to Springfields Events Centre, off the A16.

The parade will set off at Springfields from 2pm today and will go on a circuit through the town cen- tre.

As a result of the change of finishing location, the parade will not go along Winfrey Avenue at all.

The parade is the biggest event in the town’s calendar and is expected to bring thousands of visitors to Spalding.

Some 1.3 million tulip heads have been used to decorate the floats and there will be a cavalcade of performers, musicians and dancers involved in the parade.

The parade will be the 54th held in the town, with this year’s theme “Food, Glorious Food”.
