Wa­ter­colour paint­ings go on dis­play

ART­WORK pro­duced by the Peter­bor­ough branch of the Univer­sity of the Third Age (U3A) is cur­rently on dis­play at a city art gallery this month.

A wide va­ri­ety of work by the group’s wa­ter­colour class are on dis­play at the City Gallery in Shrews­bury Av­enue un­til May 26.

A spokes­woman for the gallery said: “The group is a sec­tion of the Peter­bor­ough branch of the U3A and will be ex­hibit­ing over 40 pieces of art­work, all will be for sale at very af­ford­able prices.

“The group cur­rently have about fifty mem­bers each with a wide range of ex­pe­ri­ence rang­ing from com­plete be­gin­ners to those who dis­play and sell their work on a reg­u­lar ba­sis.”

The group meets on Fri­day af­ter­noons at St An­drew’s Church Hall in Peter­bor­ough.

Guid­ance with demon­stra­tions is pro­vided, but the main em­pha­sis is on pro­vid­ing en­cour­age­ment rather con­ven­tional teach­ing.

Tu­tor Bob Frank said: “The main ob­jec­tive is for ev­ery­one to en­joy paint­ing.”
