Jail staff get pedal power
JAIL staff were hoping to pedal away from prison to raise cash in memory of a colleague.
A team of 12 prison officers and other staff took part in a 24 hour cycling marathon at Serpentine Green Shopping Centre, Hampton, Peterborough.
The team, lead by Gary Clarke, deputy head at HMP Peterborough Women’s prison, started at 2pm on Friday.
They rode through the night before finishing at 2pm on Saturday, travelling more than 2,000 miles during their marathon ride.
The cyclists were hoping to raise more than £3,000 for Sue Ryder’s Thorpe Hall Hospice in tribute to their former colleague, Louise Cooper, who recently died at the centre.
Tribute: Staff from Peterborough Prison, who cycled for 24 hours to raise money in memory of a former colleague.
