New con­test for ul­trafast

PETER­BOR­OUGH is also one of 2 cities in the UK in the run­ning for ul­trafast broad­band.

The city is bid­ding to se­cure a share of £50 mil­lion from the gov­ern­ment to in­stall the ser­vice.

In the bud­get, the Chan­cel­lor Ge­orge Os­borne an­nounced the new fund, which will help cre­ate ten su­per-con­nected cities with 80-100Mbps broad­band ac­cess.

This is the sec­ond round of fund­ing for ul­tra fast broad­band, with ten of the UK’S largest cities al­ready work­ing on de­tailed plans to up­grade their net­works.

Bid­ding cities need to pro­duce plans for how they will use their share of the £50 mil­lion and the con­test should start on May 18
