Con­ser­va­tives win the Yax­ley elec­tion

VOT­ERS in Yax­ley and Farcet have elected Mark Oliver to con­tinue to rep­re­sent them on the Hunt­ing­don­shire Dis­trict Coun­cil. At last Thurs­day’s elec­tion, Cllr Oliver re­tained his seat af­ter he won 860 votes. Sec­ond place was Barry Hy­land (UK In­de­pen­dence Party) with 453 votes, slightly ahead of Mar­garet Cochrane (Labour) with 429 votes. The Lib­eral Demo­crat can­di­date Chris Waites re­ceived 97 votes. Just 23 per cent of res­i­dents from Yax­ley and Farcet voted in the dis­trict coun­cil elec­tions. In­de­pen­dent Dick Tulpin won in Sawtry, while Lisa Duffy (UKIP) was elected in Ram­sey.
