Conservatives win the Yaxley election
VOTERS in Yaxley and Farcet have elected Mark Oliver to continue to represent them on the Huntingdonshire District Council. At last Thursday’s election, Cllr Oliver retained his seat after he won 860 votes. Second place was Barry Hyland (UK Independence Party) with 453 votes, slightly ahead of Margaret Cochrane (Labour) with 429 votes. The Liberal Democrat candidate Chris Waites received 97 votes. Just 23 per cent of residents from Yaxley and Farcet voted in the district council elections. Independent Dick Tulpin won in Sawtry, while Lisa Duffy (UKIP) was elected in Ramsey.
