BY the end of the 19th cen­tury, most towns had their own fire bri­gades, with fire en­gines and steam-pow­ered pumps.

These men would have been part of the crew com­mit­ted to tack­ling blazes in the cen­tre of Peter­bor­ough, dur­ing the early part of the 20th cen­tury.

I won­der which one of them was the driver? Do you know if any of these old en­gines are still around in Peter­bor­ough? Per­haps there is a col­lec­tion some­where?
