Bur­glars tar­get vul­ner­a­ble women

TWO el­derly woman were tar­geted by bur­glars in what po­lice have called “de­spi­ca­ble crimes”.

The first hap­pened at 11.45am on Tues­day in Blos­som Court, Bret­ton, Peter­bor­ough, when a man knocked on the door of an 82-year-old woman’s home be­fore get­ting in through the back door.

He stole a leather hand­bag and purse, cash, bank cards and some med­i­ca­tion.

The bur­glar is de­scribed as white, aged 16 to 20, wear­ing dark clothes and rid­ing a black and white moun­tain bike.

Then, at 7.40pm on Tues­day, in Larch Grove, Dogsthorpe, a man pushed past a 99-year-old woman who opened the door to him.

He stole her purse, which con­tained cash, be­fore run­ning off.

The bur­glar is de­scribed as white, aged 18 to 20, tall, slim and with black hair. He wore a blue jumper and grey trousers. Po­lice are not link­ing the bur­glars.

DS Dave Tay­lor­said: “These are de­spi­ca­ble crimes in which el­derly and vul­ner­a­ble peo­ple have been de­lib­er­ately tar­geted.”
