Po­lice link four ve­hi­cle break-ins by thieves

PO­LICE are ap­peal­ing for in­for­ma­tion fol­low­ing four break-ins to ve­hi­cles in Chat­teris.

The in­ci­dents all hap­pened over last week­end and po­lice have for­mally linked them.

Two hap­pened in Tithe Road, overnight be­tween May 6 and 7, with thieves steal­ing a Beaver power pack petrol breaker worth about £1,000 from the back of a truck as well as two drills, two grinders and a trans­former, worth hun­dreds of pounds in to­tal, from a Toy­ota van parked on a drive­way.

The oth­ers hap­pened in Fairview Cres­cent, be­tween May 4 and 7, when a van was bro­ken into and power tools worth £100 stolen, and in a car park in Wind­mill Road, overnight from May 6 to 7, when a van was bro­ken into and dam­aged but noth­ing was stolen.

De­tec­tive Sergeant Matt Swash said: “I would like to hear from any­one who saw any­thing sus­pi­cious over the week­end, such as ve­hi­cles in the area they have not seen be­fore.”
