New grants for ap­pren­tices

BOSSES at a Peter­bor­ough col­lege are of­fer­ing a new grant to en­able em­ploy­ers to take on ap­pren­tices.

The ven­ture al­lows Peter­bor­ough Re­gional Col­lege to of­fer £1,500 grants to em­ploy­ers who take on a new ap­pren­tice.

The grant is aimed at small to medium em­ploy- ers who haven’t taken on an ap­pren­tice for at least three years and ap­pren­tices must be aged be­tween 16 and 24 years.

Judy Preece, train­ing and place­ment team man­ager in the col­lege’s Ap­pren­tice­ship Cen­tre, said: “We are thrilled this grant has be­come avail­able to em­ploy­ers. It re­ally does give them an ex­tra in­cen­tive to add an ap­pren­tice to their team.

The col­lege man­ages more than 25 ap­pren­tice­ship pro­grammes such as en­gi­neer­ing, cater­ing and busi­ness, mar­ket­ing and com­mu­ni­ca­tions, plumb­ing and con­struc­tion.
