The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk&world Update -

STAFF at Peterborough Cathedral will today welcome nine students from five African countries.

The students are currently taking a 10-week course in agriculture and are visiting the cathdral as part of their studies.

A cathedral spokeswoman said: “The students are four women and five men from Tanzania, Malawi, Ghana and Nigeria.

“They are visiting the cathedral because centuries ago the monastic community had to be self-supporting, and so they grew all their own vegetables, fruit and grain, as well as keeping animals and bees.

The students are studying at at Shuttleworth College, in Bedford.
