Groups achieve large losses
TWO local weightloss groups are celebrating after their members achieved impressive slimming successes.
In total, around 90 members of the Stanground and Woodston branches of Weight Watchers have lost a total of 140 stones and 10 lbs since early January.
Two members have experienced their own impressive losses with Stanground member Heidi Longfoot dropping 56 lbs and Woodston member Rachel Arling losing 115 lbs.
The losses have delighted Jean Fuller who manages both the groups on a weekly basis.
Ms Fuller said: “Last week I calcu- lated the combined total of members weight losses at the two groups.
“I was amazed when it came to 140 stones and 10 lbs, I think that’s the equivalent of two polar bears.
“I feel incredibly proud of the group members because they have shown real determination to reach their goals.
“We have a saying at the groups that if you don’t show desire, discipline and determination then you’ll experience disaster.
“What the groups, and Heidi and Rachel in particular, have achieved takes a lot of hard work. And it’s not just coming to the meetings, it’s doing a little bit extra as well.
“Heidi goes on walks and does Zumba while Rachel is a bit of a gym bunny.”
Ms Fuller said there are many benefits to achieving weight-loss. She said: “I enjoy seeing people experience a boost in confidence, that’s really satisfying.
“Both the grounds have a great camaraderie and everyone supports each other.
“We always welcome new members.”
