Swales bemoans costly bike problems

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Etbusiness Daily -

PANTHERS co-bosstrevor Swales bemoaned the bike problems that affected his side before and during the meeting last night but insisted there were plenty of positives to come from the display.

Swales, who guided the club to the Elite League title six years ago, said: “We had a few problems but that is speedway.

“Rene Bach had problems before the meeting and had to change bikes and Olly Allen had electrical problems throughout the meeting and also had to change bikes.

“Obviously a rider’s first bike is the one he wants to be on but I’m not taking anything away from Birmingham who rode well.

“It was a very good meeting but we lost the match early on by allowing Birmingham to open up an eight-point lead.

“When we got back to within two points I was thinking we could go on and win it but it wasn’t to be.

“It was nice to see Jesper B Monberg scoring well again and we’re certainly going better away than we did last season so there are plenty of positives.

“We got one point and we’re disappointed not to get more but hopefully we’ll go well again at Lakeside tonight.
