Man guilty of ha­rass­ment

A “LONELY” man has been given a two-year re­strain­ing or­der pre­vent­ing him from con­tact­ing a woman to whom he sent a se­ries of texts and Face­book mes­sages.

Stephen Har­vey (34), of Wis­bech Road, March, started to con­tact the woman af­ter be­friend­ing her.

Ini­tially the mes­sages were not of­fen­sive but af­ter a while he sent the woman a text say­ing that he “wanted to tie her up”.

Har­vey ap­peared at Peter­bor­ough Mag­is­trates’ Court yes­ter­day and pleaded guilty to ha­rass­ment with­out vi­o­lence.

Har­vey was given a two-year re­strain­ing or­der pre­vent­ing him from con­tact­ing the woman and a con­di­tional dis­charge for 18 months. He was also or­dered to pay £85 costs.

Re­becca Keogh, de­fend­ing, said: “He is a lonely per­son who re­alises the dis­tress caused by pur­su­ing this woman.”
