In­mate used phone watch in his cell

A PRISONER who was caught us­ing a mo­bile phone watch in his cell has been or­dered to serve a fur­ther two months in jail.

Jody Stones (27), who is a prisoner at Peter­bor­ough Prison, was caught us­ing the watch on April 13 af­ter of­fi­cers heard him talk­ing in his sin­gle-man cell.

Stones, who had a year left to serve on a four-year jail sen­tence for a house bur­glary, ap­peared at Peter­bor­ough Mag­is­trates’ Court yes­ter­day and pleaded guilty to pos­sess­ing an unau­tho­rised item.

Julie Murtagh, de­fend­ing, said that Stones had been us­ing the watch for four weeks be­fore be­ing caught.

She said that he had bought the de­vice to keep in con­tact with his fam­ily af­ter his grand­mother be­came se­ri­ously ill.

Stones, who is due to be re­leased in May 2013, was or­dered to serve a fur­ther two months in prison for the of­fence.
