YAXLEY Football Club have issued a glowing tribute to Gary Clipston - the man they sacked as first team manager on Thursday night.

The committee voted in favour of appointing a new first team management regime for the 2012-13 season, meaning the end of Clipston’s five-and-a-half year reign in the Cuckoos hot-seat.

A statement after the decision described Clipston as ‘an instrisic and key part of the club’.

The full statement read: “Everyone at the club has the highest regard and esteem for Gary and what he has brought us during the last 10 years - being first team manager one of those times.

“Gary has been an intrinsic and key part of our club and we truly hope that once the dust settles and the emotion dies down, he will continue to be so.”

Clipston (pictured right) said he was ‘gutted and shellshocked’ by the decision.

The club invites written applications for the position of first team manager to be submitted by email to Jeff@yaxleyfc.com by 5pm Thursday May 17 2012.

Applications should include a CV and a comprehensively detailed plan describing how they would secure and maintain promotion.

All applications will be treated in strict and total confidence.
