Hun­dreds raised by fair at Helt­wate School

PEO­PLE or­gan­is­ing big par­ties flocked to a fair tak­ing place at a school in Peter­bor­ough to help them plan it smoothly.

Helt­wate Spe­cial School hosted the Wed­ding, Par­ties and Proms Fair on Sun­day, April 29, which had stands by 17 busi­nesses.

The event was or­gan­ised by the Friends of Helt­wate group and raised over £300 for the school.

Friends of Helt­wate sec­re­tary Louise Goodlip said: “Our wed­ding par­ties and proms fair was great fun.

“It was slightly ham­pered by the hor­ren­dous weather, but plenty of peo­ple made the ef­fort to come.

“The busi­ness were all happy to have par­tic­i­pated.

“Our school raised over £335 and so we were thrilled.”

This isn’t the end of the fundrais­ing road for the Friends of Helt­wate group.

Louise added: “We are plan­ning it again for next year, only big­ger and bet­ter.

“We will also put on an arts and crafts fair in Novem­ber.”

Helt­wate Spe­cial School is a mixed school of­fer­ing ed­u­ca­tion to four to 16-year-old pupils.

All of the pupils at Helt­wate have ei­ther mod­er­ate or se­vere learn­ing dif­fi­cul­ties.
