Parents and neighbours’ shock at case

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk&world Update -

PARENTS oftyler’s classmates have spoken of how his murder have had an impact on their children.

Georgina O’rourke’s daughter Phoebe was in a class withtyler at Paston Ridings Primary School and described the pair as “inseparable”.

At the time of his death, teachers taught the class the songtwinkletwinkletyler’s Star and Mrs O’rourke said Phoebe still regularly sings it at night looking out the window.

Mrs O’rourke, who now lives in Werrington, said: “I had to explain to Phoebe what has happened because everyone has been talking about it.

“I explained that Elvis wastyler’s mummy’s boyfriend and that he did some nasty things totyler.

“I said he is in a lot of trouble and he is going to pay for what he has done, he will be put away behind bars.

“With the explanation she seemed a lot better that when she only knew a few things.

“She still gets upset by it, I think she will remember him forever. “Tyler needs to be remembered.” Liz Allen, whose daughter Frankie (5) goes to Paston Ridings Primary School and was friends withtyler, said: “Everybody has been following the trial in the paper, lots of people have been very upset by it all.”

Neighbours of Elvis Lee, of Crabtree, Paston, Peterborough, have spoken of their shock abouttyler’s murder happening just a few doors away from where they live.

Julie Sinclair (52), of Crabtree, said: “What happened to that poor little boy breaks my heart. It’s really horrible to think that anyone could even contemplate hurting a child.

“That boy was completely defenceless - he didn’t stand a chance against a fully grown man.

“Obviously the trial has been wellpublicised and that’s brought home exactly what went on.

“It’s not nice to think that somebody like that lived a few doors away.

“I’m sure I speak for most when I say that I hope I never have to read about something like this ever again.”

Karlthorpe (33), of Crabtree, added: “I was horrified to read about what happened to that young boy, to think that he died a very painful death is shocking.

“And what kind of adult could do that a kid? Being a parent isn’t easy but you must never resort to violence.

“I don’t know the family involved and have never seen them around here myself but anyone guilty of such a horrible crime deserves to go to prison for a long time.”
