The recipients of this year’s Whittlesey Citizen Of The Year awards were invited to a special evening at the Whittlesey Town Hall.

The Whittlesey Young Citizen Of The Year award was given to Molly Martin, a Year 6 pupil at Park Lane Primary school. Molly was nominated for the award by school staff for tirelessly fundraising for a wide range of worthy causes.

In a special nomination, Abbie Wiles was given an Outstanding Con- tribution To The Community award.

She said the standard of entries had been very high, adding: “Each of them should be very proud. I know the judges had a difficult task this year.”

At the same meeting, Cllr Mayor presented a cheque for £1,700 to the Whittlesey St John Ambulance group.

The money was raised at the Mayor’s annual civic ball.

It was also confirmed that Cllr Mayor would be spending a second term in office as the town’s mayor while her deputy will remain as Cllr Martin Curtis.
