The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk&world Update -

A PRESSURE group for motorcyclists is raising awareness about the dangers of diesel spillages on the road.

Peterborough Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) is urging motorists to make sure fuel caps are fully secured to stop leaks taking place.

Dave Hammond, Peterborough MAG representative, said: “In the wet, diesel floats on water and produces a surface with the same level of grip as an ice rink - none.

“I am 51 now and have been driving since I was 13. I had a fall on a spill seven years ago, it can happen to anyone. A lorry was coming the other way and I was lucky that it missed me, it could have killed me. So please, think when you top up your fuel - diesel can kill.”
