Pair plan Ireland pedal for charity
AN INTREPID duo are poised to take on a 400-mile cycling challenge for charity.
Spalding-based Tim Langford (46) and Chris Peel (41) plan to cycle around Northern Ireland to raise vital funds for Parkinson’s UK.
The two friends decided to take on a four-day cycling challenge in memory of Tim’s father-in-law, Jim Rutledge. The tour will start on June 2.
Jim, who lived in Belfast, passed away age 77 just before Christmas last year. He lived with Parkinson’s for 10 years.
Mr Langford said: “Jim was an inspiration and a pleasure to know. He rarely complained so it usually wasn’t obvious how much he suffered.
“If we can help others in a small way by raising some money and awareness of Parkinson’s in his memory we are more than happy to do so.”
Paul Jackson-clark, director of fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, said: “Taking part in a cycling challenge is a fantastic way to raise vital funds to support our work.”
