Play-off match marred by an as­sault on the ref

A Peter­bor­ough League pro­mo­tion play-off match was aban­doned last night af­ter an al­leged as­sault on a ref­eree.

League of­fi­cials con­firmed the Divi­siontwo clash be­tween Sut­ton Bridge and Eye Sports & So­cial Re­serves was halted by of­fi­cial Phil Hayes af­ter an in­ci­dent in­volv­ing an Eye player in the 76th minute. Sut­ton Bridge were win­ning 5-2 at the time and the re­sult is ex­pected to stand with them ad­vanc­ing to a final against Oun­dle Re­serves on Satur­day. Last night’s re­sults: Premier Di­vi­sion: Eye Sports 3 (Gra­ham 2, N. Agius), Deep­ing Rangers Res 4 (Brad­bury 3, Waum­s­ley). Di­vi­sion Two play-offs semi-fi­nals: Hart­ford Sun 1 (Clax­ton), Farcet 4 (Scott 2, Wales, Rozario). Di­vi­sion Three play-offs semi-fi­nals: Oun­dle Res 3 (Key­worth, Raynor, Stan­ley), Crow­land Res 1 (Froud); Sut­ton Bridge 5 (Still 2, Reims 2, Stancer), Eye Sports & So­cial Res 2 (Steele 2) – match aban­doned.
