THE Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations next month mark 60 years since she came to the throne – even though her accession took place on February 6, 1952, not June.
Her Coronation was on June 2, but not until 195 .
The Queen has become only the second UK monarch to mark 60 years on the throne.
Celebrations were previously held for her Silver Jubilee in 1977 and Golden Jubilee in 2002.
The Diamond Jubilee is being celebrated with a special extended bank holiday weekend from Saturday, June 2, to Tuesday, June 5.
