The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Uk&world Update -

THE leader of Peterborough City Council will announce any changes to his cabinet next week.

Cllr Marco Cereste will reveal if he is to re-shuffle his cabinet at the annual council meeting being held at Town Hall on Wednesday.

Cllr Cereste can pick a cabinet of up to nine members, but has previously refused to comment on his plans for the re-shuffle.

The most intriguing decision facing Cllr Cereste concerns the future of cabinet member for children’s services, Cllr Sheila Scott.

The councillor has endured a turbulent two years as her department which has twice received “inadequate” ratings from Ofsted, as well as being criticised following a serious case review into the death of five-year-old Tyler Whelan.

Other changes which could be made at the annual council meeting is the merging of the Sustainable Growth Scrutiny Committee with the Environment Capital Scrutiny Committee.

It will also be the first meeting since the local elections on May 3, with Labour now the largest opposition group after gaining five new seats, bringing its total number of councillors to 11.
