Dalton Seeds invests in extra capacity
Long-established agricultural business Dalton Seeds is adding to its current 3,200 tonnes of storage space by building a 1,000tonne capacity new warehouse that will be completed and operational by autumn 2012.
This investment, at its site in Eye, near Peterborough, comes on the back of a 1,000-tonne increase in capacity in summer 2009.
It will leave the company with one of the best sales-to-storage ratios of any merchant in the country.
Production director Peter Fox said: “This capacity increase will allow us greater flexibility in servicing farmers’ needs.
“It means we can be even more responsive in meeting customer requirements for timely deliveries of seed to farm.
“The investment reinforces our mantra – Serving Agriculture”.
Dalton Seeds, like The Queen who celebrates her Diamond Jubilee, marks 60 years in business in 2012.
The company is one part, along with Dalmark Grain, of the £75 million turnover Dalmark Group.
It began life on April 22, 1952 and grew to become one of the largest independent, family-owned seed businesses in the UK.
