Crash three weeks ago claims fourth vic­tim

A HEAD-ON crash be­tween a lorry and a peo­ple car­rier has claimed its fourth vic­tim more than three weeks af­ter the in­ci­dent. Great-grand­fa­ther Robert Reed, 75, of Houghton-le-spring, his grand­son’s part­ner Na­talie Simp­son, 18, and her daugh­ter Destiny, 14-months, died at the scene of the col­li­sion on Seaton Lane be­tween Houghton-le-spring and Sea­ham, County Durham, on April 25. Mr Reed’s wife Mar­garet (74) was flown to James Cook Uni­ver­sity Hos­pi­tal, Mid­dles­brough, with se­ri­ous in­juries, and she died yes­ter­day. The 42-year-old lorry driver, from Het­ton-le-hole, was ar­rested on sus­pi­cion of caus­ing death by dan­ger­ous driv­ing and was bailed un­til the mid­dle of next month.
