HOUSEHOLDERS are being warned they face tough action if they fail to use a rubbish tip correctly.
Bosses at East Northamptonshire Council say there have been a number of incidents in which residents have simply dumped rubbish at the Oundle recycling centre instead of putting items into the collection banks.
Waste management officer Kevin Skerry said: “Surveillance of the site led to four residents being caught dumping green waste and household items, including a microwave, by the banks when it clearly states items must be placed in the banks.
“Three of them have received a £75 fine and one received a warning notice.
“We are reminding residents to dispose of their recycling properly at the Oundle banks or risk a fine of up to £5,000 for flytipping. It’s remarkable that some people make the effort to get to the recycling banks and then don’t use them.”
