Va­ri­ety of faiths and foods in city are the cause for fes­ti­val of cel­e­bra­tion

RES­I­DENTS of Peter­bor­ough are be­ing urged to take part in a faith and foods ex­trav­a­ganza.

The event is be­ing hosted by the Peter­bor­ough In­ter-faith Coun­cil and Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil to cel­e­brate the cul­tural va­ri­ety found in the city.

The cel­e­bra­tion will of­fer a va­ri­ety of tra­di­tional food from dif­fer­ent coun­tries, cul­tures and re­li­gions and in­cludes speeches from the ma­jor faiths found in Peter­bor­ough and takes place to­mor­row.

It starts at 12.30pm with a buf­fet lunch at which Dr Andy Lig­gins, di­rec­tor of public health in Peter­bor­ough, will make the key­note speech be­fore a range of faith speak­ers take the floor.

Peter­bor­ough City Coun­cil’s chief ex­ec­u­tive Gil­lian Beasley will round off the af­ter­noon and talk about sport and health fa­cil­i­ties in Peter­bor­ough.

Jas­pal Singh, chair of Peter­bor­ough In­ter-faith Coun­cil, said: “I be­lieve that ed­u­ca­tion and di­a­logue are key in pro­mot­ing good in­ter-faith re­la­tions and co­he­sion be­tween the dif­fer­ent com­mu­ni­ties in Peter­bor­ough.”
