Variety of faiths and foods in city are the cause for festival of celebration
RESIDENTS of Peterborough are being urged to take part in a faith and foods extravaganza.
The event is being hosted by the Peterborough Inter-faith Council and Peterborough City Council to celebrate the cultural variety found in the city.
The celebration will offer a variety of traditional food from different countries, cultures and religions and includes speeches from the major faiths found in Peterborough and takes place tomorrow.
It starts at 12.30pm with a buffet lunch at which Dr Andy Liggins, director of public health in Peterborough, will make the keynote speech before a range of faith speakers take the floor.
Peterborough City Council’s chief executive Gillian Beasley will round off the afternoon and talk about sport and health facilities in Peterborough.
Jaspal Singh, chair of Peterborough Inter-faith Council, said: “I believe that education and dialogue are key in promoting good inter-faith relations and cohesion between the different communities in Peterborough.”
