From dog collar to being collared...

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - News -

THE Evening Telegraph joined Ralph, a three-year-old English springer spaniel, and Zack, a seven-year-old Labrador, and their handlers Pc Robbie Jenkins and Pc Gary Walker from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Dog Unit, for the operation on Friday night.

Ralph and Zack are “passive” or “body scanning” drug detec- tion dogs, meaning they are trained to find illicit substances (including cannabis, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and amphetamines), on people, not in places.

The dogs are rewarded for stopping a potential offender.

Pc Jenkins said: “All they do it for is a biscuit. They don’t know they’re working. They’re just out having fun.”
