HIS­TORY buffs have been re­minded that they face one of the most fas­ci­nat­ing sum­mers ever in the city.

His­to­rian and broad­caster Dr Jan­ina Ramirez is due to give an il­lus­trated talk about the sto­ries be­hind English Royalty from the An­glo Sax­ons to Henry VIII.

This will be fol­lowed by spe­cial ar­chae­o­log­i­cal digs which are be­ing held at Flag Fen fea­tur­ing top ex­perts from July 24 to Au­gust 12 (Full de­tails on pages 8&9).

The spe­cial talk will be based on Dr Ramirez’s highly ac­claimed BBC4 se­ries, The Pri­vate Lives of Me­dieval Kings, and will take place on June 23 in Peter­bor­ough Cathe­dral start­ing at 7.30pm.

The talk will also con­sider how Peter­bor­ough was im­por­tant for the pro­duc­tion of me­dieval manuscripts with many sur­viv­ing ex­am­ples made at the abbey, which is known to­day as Peter­bor­ough Cathe­dral, and which are amongst the finest of their kind still sur­viv­ing to­day.
