Summer of history
HISTORY buffs have been reminded that they face one of the most fascinating summers ever in the city.
Historian and broadcaster Dr Janina Ramirez is due to give an illustrated talk about the stories behind English Royalty from the Anglo Saxons to Henry VIII.
This will be followed by special archaeological digs which are being held at Flag Fen featuring top experts from July 24 to August 12 (Full details on pages 8&9).
The special talk will be based on Dr Ramirez’s highly acclaimed BBC4 series, The Private Lives of Medieval Kings, and will take place on June 23 in Peterborough Cathedral starting at 7.30pm.
The talk will also consider how Peterborough was important for the production of medieval manuscripts with many surviving examples made at the abbey, which is known today as Peterborough Cathedral, and which are amongst the finest of their kind still surviving today.
Tickets are priced at £10 adults, £8 concessions (children, students, seniors) or £7 to Vivacity Heritage Pass Holders.
Tickets for the special talk are available from the Key Theatre Box Office 01733 207239.
