Tinkler provides Southern comfort
RECENT signing Martin Tinkler recorded four wins to at least provide some comfort as Nene Valley Harriers finished last in their Southern League match at Stevenage.
Tinkler, a former English Schools bronze medallist who joined from rivals Peterborough Athletic Club this year, was in superb form in the throws where Ken Baker weighed in impressively with a couple of wins - as well as making a rare appearance in the pole vault.
Baker, a former British Masters shot putt champion, was one of the leading multi-eventers in the country as a youngster but these days restricts himself to the throws.
The Latvian Sumskis twins were both in winning form, Edgars running the 3000m for the first time for several years and taking the A-string - with last week’s Langtoft 10k victor winning the B-string - while Juris won the B-string 800m.
In the women’s events, Emily Maltby was in superb form with a sprint double in the A-strings as well as winning the B-string long jump while Grace Mullins added yet another statistic to her impress list of middle-distance wins.
Veterans Tracey Lazenby was also in fine form with two wins while Kelly Lawrence took the hammer with a fine throw.
RARE 3000m OUTING: Edgars Sumskis.
