JAMESTAYLOR made a goalscoring farewell to Netherton on Saturday.

The full-back, who is moving to Manchester, found the net during a 4-1 success over Uppingham on the 3G pitch at the Grange.

It was a result that ensured a pleasing first season at the helm for boss Johnny Byrne, which featured a PFA Senior Cup final appearance, ended on a high.

Byrne said: “We finished sixth and reached a cup final so we have given ourselves good foundations on which to build in the future.

“We’ve only ended up a couple of points off third place and I can think of at least 12 silly points we have dropped during the course of the season.

“We need to have a look at the young talent already at the club and also cast our eyes elsewhere to try and make the few additions that will help us kick on again.”

Eddie Patten scored at both ends for Netherton on Saturday, following up an own goal with his first of the season at the right end from the penalty spot. Ash Jackson and Ben Cullen were their other scorers.

Elsewhere Crowland won 4-0 at bottom side Alconbury thanks to James Ellwood (2), Jordan Aylward and Steve Paling.
