Yaxley v Barnack, Middletons Road (6.15pm)

The Peterborough Evening Telegraph - - Etbusiness Daily -

THIS is a tricky tie to call, but the home team have most of the momentum having won two Cambs Divisiontwo matches in succession.

Yaxley have recruited well in the close season to make up for the absence of club stalwart Dave Stratton. Signing former Deeping skipper Nick Cowley was a terrific coup for the club.

But Barnack have plenty of pride in the team and will put up a fight. Key clash: Nick Cowley v Steve Best Cowley is a dangerous hitter (a slogger rather than a stylist) and a canny slow left-arm bowler who can take a game away from any local team in an instant.

All-rounder Best, the Barnack captain, has been a popular and talented figure on the local scene for decades and still retains enough pride in his and his team’s performance to ensure 100 per cent commitment from his players tonight.

Verdict: Yaxley to shade it.

NATURAL ABILITY: James Williams.

BIG HITTER: Andy Larkin.
