A group of young people worked with volunteers from Peterborough Environment City Trust (PECT) to clear everything from rubbish to shopping trolleys from the riverbank near Railworld.

It was part of the Rivercare project launched by Anglian Water and Keep Britaintidy.

PECT volunteer Ben Johnson, who organised the litter pick, said: “The Rivercare project is all about getting people reconnected with their local riverside environment and helping to improve the quality of the river.

“People enjoy the river for so many different reasons, so it’s great to do what we can to help.”
