Official opening of new golf driving range
GOLFERS will be able to practise their teeing off skills at a new driving range.
Peterborough City councillor Paula Thacker and Ray Dobbs officially opened the new driving range at Thorpe Meadows Golf Club recently.
The driving range gives players a chance to practice their golf skills, minus the putting, and teaching is available.
The range has 23 separate driving bays and is ideal for those who are new to the game, or who would like to refine their driving techniques.
Cllr Thacker said: “It was a unique honour to be able to open the driving range, seeing as I’m not a seasoned golfer.
“I was given a tour of the facilities and then given a crash course in how to tee-off.
“I didn’t have a go myself as I didn’t want to get shown up but I can tell that when you hit a good shot it’s a great feeling.
“I hope that many people go on to have that feeling when using the range in the future.”
A spokesman for the course said: “We’re delighted to welcome everyone to our plush new driving range.
“A key feature of the new Let’s Play Golf Academy. Boasting 23 bays on 2 levels – come try it out and experience the drive to win.”
