Fam­ily fun day for the ju­bilee

FAM­I­LIES will be cel­e­brat­ing the Queen’s Di­a­mond Ju­bilee with a ser­vice and a lunch be­ing held in Peter­bor­ough.

The event will be held in the main square at Or­ton­gate Shop­ping Cen­tre on Sun­day, June 3.

The ser­vice, which will be led by mem­bers of Christ Church in Or­ton Gold­hay, will take place at 11.30am. It will be fol­lowed by a Big Ju­bilee Lunch start­ing at 1pm.

The 300 chil­dren and res­i­dents tak­ing part in the lunch won their places at a prize draw picked by Coun­cil­lor June Stokes and Coun­cil­lor Gavin Elsey.

Or­ton­gate Cen­tre man­ager and event or­gan­iser Paul Chip­ping­ton said: “The free lunch is open to se­lected lo­cal res­i­dents and school­child­ren from the Or­tons area along with their fam­i­lies.

“Lo­cal coun­cil­lors June Stokes and Gavin Elsey at­tended a live draw on Wed­nes­day 16th May and drew the lucky win­ning 300 names for the free Ju­bilee Lunch.

“Fol­low­ing the draw, the coun­cil­lors an­nounced that in sup­port of lo­cal com­mu­nity co­he­sion they would make a £500 do­na­tion to Christ Church Ju­bilee Lun­cheon, on be­half of CBRE res­i­dents and the lo­cal com­mu­nity as a heart­felt thank you.

“There will also be five hours of chil­dren’s and fam­ily en­ter­tain­ment, a Ju­bilee-themed fancy dress com­pe­ti­tion with prizes sup­plied by Wilkin­sons.”

There will be a raf­fle draw with prizes do­nated by QD, Anglia Co-op­er­a­tive, Lloyds Phar­macy, Wherry Hous­ing As­so­ci­a­tion and May’s Dis­count Fur­ni­ture Store.
