The Amazon Ward at the hospital, in Bretton Gate, received the six micro-scooters this week, two of which are suitable for children aged one or above, two are suitable for those aged three to five years old and two which can be used by children aged from six to 12.
The donation has been made by Micro Scooters Ltd, an Essex-based firm which supplies and sells children’s scooters, as part of its Micro Scooters UK Scheme, which aims to work with every children’s hospital throughout the UK.
Zoe Wilkinson, play service coordinator at the hospital, said: “We are delighted to accept these scooters for our hospital as we can ensure outdoor play is accessible.
“They will be invaluable in providing a distraction and act as an aid to the children’s recovery.”
The hospital will also receive ribbons and other accessories for their new scooters.
