Charity award for city club
Peterborough Athletic Club ( established in 1955) has been awarded charity status by the Charity Commission. The accolade comes on top of the club receiving the coveted England Athletics Clubmark a few years ago. The award of charity status indicates the club’s ‘ excellent governance and financial reporting procedures as well as its commitment to inclusivity and focus on excellent coaching across all age groups’. The charity status will allow the club to bid for grants more widely and claim gift aid on certain donations. Committeemember, Matthew Dalton, wholed the bid for charity status, commented: “This is a real feather in our cap. The Commission’s application procedures are highly rigorous and I amvery proud that the club met all its criteria with ease. “This reinforces our position as one of the city’s most highly respected and well run sports clubs.” Bourne TownHarriers annual Christmas Handicap race through Bourne Woods on Sunday saw Leah Clark win the junior race and her mumKarenClarktake the senior race honours.
