Ste­wart Jack­son: “I’m not the PM’S num­ber one fan’

Peter­bor­ough MP Ste­wart Jack­son has told a na­tional newspro­gram­me­heis“not the num­berone­fan” of PrimeMin­is­ter David Cameron.

Speak­ing onBBCRa­dioFive on Mon­day, along with Lib­eral Demo­crat MP Sir Men­zies Camp­bell, MrJack­son­saidthat the PrimeMin­is­ter faced a “dif­fi­cult balancing act” to win the 2015 gen­eral elec­tion.

Mr Jack­son said: “The chal­lenge the coali­tion faces is win­ning back the ben­e­fit of doubt from the vot­ers.

“The last bud­get was gen­er­ally not well re­ceived.

“How­ever, pol­i­tics is about con­tin­u­ing to re- af­firm what you are do­ing and peo­ple need to­think­thatwe­have­turnedthe cor­ner.

“I’m not David Cameron’s num­ber one fan and have criti- cised his pol­icy on­gay­mar­riage and Europe.

“The dif­fi­culty he has is that he has to work as part of a team mak­ing some tough dec­sions.

“Not only does he have to keep the coali­tion party go­ing in 2015 but he also has to of­fer an alternative, at­trac­tive Con­ser­va­tive party.

“That is a very dif­fi­cult balancing act.”

Back in De­cem­ber Mr Jack­son­had­la­belledDavidCameron “ar­ro­gant” for sup­port­ing the gay mar­riage bill.
