Sladok will get his skates off to become a boxer
Phantoms star Jozef Sladok looks set for a sporting career change after revealing he wants to becomeaboxer.
The Slovakian sees his long- term future in the ring rather than on the ice and has penned a deal with boxing management company Longshots Sports.
Sladok ( above) will now apply for a professional licence and could be ready to launch his boxing career within months. The25yearoldhasearmarkedaplanned bill in Peterborough in May as a starting point.
Sladok said: “Right now it is January and I am still very muchfocused onbeing ahockeyplayer, butit hasalwaysbeenmydreamtomove into boxing.
“Obviously I still need to pass the medicals and get a licence, but I would definitely like to start my boxing career in the summer. The show in Peterborough would be a great place to start. Hopefully the hockey fans would support me.”
PhantomsyoungsterJordanCowniehasbeennamed in theGreatBritainUnder18 squad for the World Championships in March.
