HOCKEY: Peter­bor­ough Town reached the semi- fi­nals of the East Cham­pi­onships by beat­ing Cam­bridge City 2- 1 with goals by John Sergeant and Jim Wheeler and Nor­folk Wan­der­ers 1- 0 with Rod Ed­ward on tar­get. De­fender John Lake played a star­ring role in both games deapite los­ing two front teeth in the open­ing minute of the first match. POSH: Chris Turner and John Cozens were on tar­get in a 2- 2 draw at home to Ch­ester City. FOOT­BALL: Yax­ley went top of Di­vi­sion One in the Peter­bor­ough League by beat­ing Whit­tle­sey 5- 2 through goals byFred Richard­son ( 2), Roger Ter­rell, Tony Burgess and Tony Hall. FOOT­BALL: A Stu­art Hod­son penalty gave Ne­wark Rovers a 1- 0 win over Bourne in a Peter­bor­ough Sun­day League Pre­mier Di­vi­sion top- of- the- ta­ble clash. RUGBY: Bor­ough fourths were the club’s only win­ners on a dis­ap­point­ing Satur­day when the firsts lost 10- 0 at home to Old Northamp­to­ni­ans. The­fourths beat Ely sec­onds10- 4 with Lind­sey Horse­man kick­ing two penal­ties and ChasGoy col­lect­ing a Trevor Noyes up- and- un­der to score a try. NON- LEAGUE: Bourne won the big UCL lo­cal derby against Stam­ford3- 1 with Gra­ham Co­p­land ( 2) and Colin Cot­tam scor­ing their goals.
