Birth­day march at­tracts thou­sands of fol­low­ers in cel­e­bra­tion of Prophet’s life

Cel­e­bra­tions were in full swing as thou­sands en­joyed the birth­day of the Prophet Muham­madinthecity. Pi­ous prayers chanted from the Qur’an min­gled with flag- wav­ing, dur­ing the hour- long pro­ces­sion from Ghou­sia Mosque to Faizan e Mad­ina Mosque, both in Glad­stone Street, Peter­bor­ough. The walk, on 17 Jan­uary, marked the most im­por­tant day in the Mus­lim cal­en­dar and closed a pro­gramme of events at Faizan- e- Mad­ina Mosque, held to ex­plain more about the Proph- et. Aspokesman said: “Schol­ars from all over the coun­try gave speeches at the end of the march. “There were speeches about the life of the Prophet and howMus­lims should live in so­ci­ety ac­cord­ing to the teach­ings of Is­lam.”
